The Discreet Charm of Tomoki Sukezane

I was contacted recently to create some illustrations for a new book by Japanese stylist and journalist Tomoki Sukezane.  I just got my copy of "The Discreet Charm of Tomoki Sukezane" in the mail today and am thrilled to see its charming pages in person.  If only I could read Japanese!  An event for the book's release will be held July15th at the beautiful TSUTAYA-BOOKS in Tokyo.

Craft Work

Putting the breaks on craft making/craft fairs/craft business for awhile to focus on some bigger fiber art projects. I've been reluctant to let go, but courage needed sometimes.

Meanwhile, a few things remain in my Maudstitch shop, and I've just added a bunch of vintage craft supplies to Maudthrift:

...because I still love digging through thrift stores for little things to make new things out of.

Braided Rag Rug

I've been working on my first braided rag rug, 

another use of the (diminishing!) pile of scrap fabric. It had me thinking of some braided bags I made years ago:

 

Always a mixed bag of feelings going through old work, and funny how things come back around.
