Woven Pictures

The inspiration began with an image of a weaving by Evgeniya Machneva:

American Tapestry Alliance

A sprawling piece in what looks to be a waiting room, or old train car. A little searching led me to her flickr page with more pictures of work and work in progress.

I'm really drawn to the contrasting colours and simple shapes - in fact I've been saving pictures of weavings on my tumblr for awhile, but the last few days woven images have taken a front seat in my mind.

Also, pictures which I think could translate well into weaving - simple shapes, bright colours:

Evelyn Ackerman

Unsurprisingly over the moon about these wall hangings designed by Evelyn Ackerman,

All photos courtesy of Ackerman

"Jerome and Evelyn strove to make beautiful yet affordable and accessible designs for homes and offices. Their life represents a true marriage of art and design that resulted in a prolific output of ceramics, mosaics, textiles, woodcarvings, hardware, and metal that embodied a modernist sensibility."
